Introduced by Judy Garland and John Hodiak in the'The Harvey Girls', but deleted from the film, 1946.This is a RARE, never before broadcast, clip. I love being able to share some of Judy's unseen work with all of you. For those of us who are compelled ... by The Magic Of A Muse ... to share her legacy, 'My Intuition' is a song/scene from 'The Harvey Girls' that we know about ... but most of
the world does not. I hope, in whatever small way I can, to change that ...
There are some minor cuts I had to make in the clip ... the video & audio quality was just so poor ... but it is minor, about 10 seconds. Otherwise, it is intact & worth seeing.
For Judy ... Always.
Words by Johnny Mercer, music by Harry Warren, 1945.

I've read your pretty speaches
And I must admit they touched my heart
I don't know where you borrow them
But most of them are works of art
No school boy with his Valentines
Was ever more sincere
I've tried to read between the lines
To make the meaning clear
But there's a little voice that whispers
Softly, as I fall asleep:
"You better look before you leap."
My intuition says to me,
Don't ever give your heart away
And so I simply must obey my intuition
My intuition says to me
Those pretty words may not be true
So what am I supposed to do in my position?
I'd like to trust my heart
Believe in just my heart
But it is much too young to know
So though it may be bad advice
I guess I'll have to string along
Until you prove my intuition
Can be wrong.
My intuition goes like this:
I'm playing poker with a bunch
And all at once I get a hunch
That's intuition
I'm playing aces back to back
And I can see a pair of kings
But if there's one more of those things
What's my position?
Well, if you get the cards
Then you should bet the cards
At least, that's what I've always heard
You have your hunch, I'll have mine
Suppose we both we both just string along
Until we prove our intuition can be wrong.

Judy and John had great chemistry together, I wish they made more movies together

Again idiot producers making dumb decisions.  This is Judy Garland and John Hodiak's only movie and their courtship already feels very rushed. Any scene with them should've been left in. If they absolutely HAD to delete any numbers, should've been the first one or the number with Ray Bolger and Virginia O'Brien, neither of which progress the story or relationships in any way. But it wouldn't have been necessary since the movie is only 101 minutes and 4 extra minutes would hardly make any difference at all.

Can't see the logic behind cutting this scene; it's a terrific song.

OMG, I love this movie! They shouldn't have cut this song. As far as I am concerned, any song by Judy Garland should be played no matter what. That was beautiful!

Disagree big time. "My Intuition" would've furthered the relationship between the two characters. And Hodiak had a very pleasant voice. "March of the Doagies" also should've remained. Its cut throws out the narrative (why are the Harvey Gils out in the desert when the Harvey house is set ablaze???) With both numbers left in (the only way I watch the film now, by the way), the movie is still under two hours. It is NOT too long. Freed made a mistake by cutting both songs. Big time.

The weight gain in Summer Stock was immediately after 3-month drying out period - off pills and booze. She'd gone to a "resort" (read: REHAB) - She was actually pretty healthy, well, for Judy anyway. She had been so rail thin that given her stature she seemed heavy. Remember, she was only 4' 11"! She'd already put on a little bit of weight during "In the Good Old Summertime" ('48).

It was a mistake to cut this song.
