It is a very simple trick to teach using the natural reaction of horses. You just take something yummy with a strong smell such as a banana - preferably something your horse hadn't eaten before. A lot of horses will automatically start smiling. If it doesn't work with a banana try a piece of bread, a pear or a carrot dipped in molasses. As soon as your horse starts smiling, reward your pony and give him a treat. Add a visual clue and a command. Now it is about repetition - don't overdo it, just try a couple of times today and then again tomorrow. It is all about positive reinforcement - it is all fun and you should NEVER punish your horse but reward the right behaviour. Good luck!
