Here we are, folks; the final level. It's a linear path where you plug a few weak monsters, along with four barons; you get every weapon up to the plasma gun; and at the very end, you'll fight twin cyberdemons and spiderdemons that you can trick into fighting each other, just like in E2M5. With a layout like this, is there any way that you can possibly annoy someone trying to record a max demo on it?

Yes, in fact, there is one: setting the railings of a platform so high that the "Death's Shadows" behind it can't be hurt with anything other than a hitscan weapon, and making the platform so wide that you sometimes have to wait for them to move closer before their itty-bitty heads can be hit. Yaaaaaaaaay. I understand why Kristian Ronge got so ticked at The Talosian Incident MAP16 now.

Not that the infighting at the end is all that easy, of course. The route I choose to create it requires that the bosses wake up when they see you instead of from gunfire, which is a bit luck-dependent because the demons just before the boss arena will sometimes open the door leading into it before you're finished exploding them. Also, you'll often have a hard time convincing one of the cyberdemons to leave his pen, no matter what you do.

Despite all that, I finished this one faster than I thought I would. My previous exit time was 2:29. Since this is the boss level, the end-of-level stats do not display when you finish it under the original engine, so if you want to see them outside of this video (make sure annotations are on,) play the demo under PrBoom+. Although it will display the Secrets percentage as 100% instead of 0% to prevent confusion, there are no secret areas in this level. Enjoy.
