Even CCM artist, Michael Card, admits that much of CCM — is NOT Christian:

"The lyrics of a good number of the songs dont betray anything specifically Christian —they may have some moral message, but not a lot of the big songs are identifiably Christian. . . 'What happens to the message when we start getting the music to as many people as possible?' There is an essential part of the gospel thats not ever going to sell. The gospel is good news, but it is also bad news: 'You are a sinner, and you are hopeless.' How is a multimillion-dollar record company going to take that? Thats a part of the message, too, and if thats taken out—and it frequently is in Christian music— it ceases to be the gospel." (Can't Buy Me Love, Christianity Today, May 20, 1996, p. 25). Dial-the-Truth Ministries began in June of 1990 in Pinson, Alabama. It started as a recorded message on an answering machine. The messages contain documented information and are designed to get the listeners attention to present the gospel of Jesus Christ. Because the messages are available 24 / 7, people could call and listen to the messages at their convenience. We now use a custom voice system utilizing a Dialogic board running on a computer. The phone number for the messages is (205) 680-9206. The Lord did some amazing things with so little! Many normally "unreachable" souls have gotten saved and passed from death unto life! People from all walks of life: Satanists; homosexuals; prostitutes; people in prison; people involved in cults; and many people just "confused or hurting" who just needed someone to talk to and didn't know where to turn. People the church would have a hard time reaching. But it's easy, private and simple to pick up the phone and hear a recorded message. After receiving many requests for copies of the phone messages, we began printing the phone messages as tracts. For the last 10 years, we have printed and distributed thousands and thousands of tracts and booklets. In 1995, we traveled onto the Internet. The Lord has really blessed this part of the ministry. We average over 100,000 visitors everyday on our web site. Because of the large bandwidth traffic, we have outgrown several web hosts and currently require two separate ISP providers to handle the load. To hear a Dial-the-Truth Message — call (205) 680-9206. (NOTE: This is NOT a toll-free number). http://www.av1611.org/index.html

Classical Music Improves Mood and Productivity

Baroque classical music in the reading room can help improve radiologists work lives, potentially improving diagnostic efficiency and accuracy, according to a study performed by researchers at the University of Maryland in Baltimore, MD, Harbor Hospital in Baltimore, MD, and the University of Pennsylvania Health System in Philadelphia, PA.

Eight radiologists participated in the study and rated their mood, concentration, perceived diagnostic accuracy, productivity and work satisfaction on a seven point scale. The greatest positive effects were noted with regard to mood and work satisfaction, with 63% and 50% of respondents reporting a positive impact, said Sohaib Mohiuddin, MD, and Paras Lakhani, MD, lead authors of the study. No participants indicated a negative effect on mood, perceived diagnostic accuracy, productivity or work satisfaction. Only one participant (12.5%) indicated a negative effect of music on concentration, they said.

Given the increased workload of todays radiologists, we were interested in looking at environmental factors that could improve the work environment for todays busy radiology reading rooms, said Dr. Mohiuddin.

Other studies have correlated baroque classical music with improved spatial reasoning, attentiveness and concentration and personally, I have found that listening to music aids my concentration and interpretative abilities, said Dr. Lakhani. We are currently performing a larger study with more subjects to validate these results, they said.

This study will be presented at the 2009 ARRS Annual Meeting in Boston, MA, on Monday, April 27.
