Beachside gave as good as they got in the opening 15 minutes, but their good work came to nothing when they conceded a penalty in the 17th minute. David Abbott's shot was handled by Brett Pullen and Mr Kopra awarded the visitors a spot-kick, which was easily converted by Marcello Marchioli to give Kingborough the lead.
Beachside were level in the 26th minute through a penalty by Pullen, which was awarded for Marc Iseli's foul on John Rogers.

David Cooper missed a good chance for the Lions in the 29th minute when he did not connect properly with Ryan Bevan's cross from the right, the result of a fine build-up involving several consecutive passes in tight situations.
Damian Pearce restored Kingborough's lead in the 32nd minute when he swept home Marchioli's free-kick from the left.
Three minutes after the break, Cooper should have increased the Lions' lead when he latched onto a poor back-pass by Rogers, but with only keeper Michael Soszynski to beat, he lifted his shot over the bar.
Cooper made amends in the 67th minute when he ran onto David Abbott's through ball and beat the advancing Soszynski to make it 3-1.

Beachside had a few half-chances but were unable to make up the leeway.
Callan Paske was useful at the centre of the defence for Beachside in the absence of Nathan Robinson, who was unavailable, but Seth Van Heyster suffered a leg injury during the second half which saw him hobble of the field to be replaced by Pat Bigg.
The win keeps Kingborough in fifth spot but now only a point adrift of fourth-ranked Tilford Zebras, while Beachside remain second-last, a point ahead of Olympia Warriors.

Beachside and Olympia meet next Saturday at Warriors Park at 7pm. This is a most unusual scheduling as the important Tilford Zebras versus New Town Eagles game kicks off half an hour earlier at KGV Park. There must be many people who would be keen to see both these important clashes.
