Leonard Kwan was one of the most influential slack key guitarists in the modern era. His "Opihi Moemoe" was an instant classic among many other timeless recordings. He arranged a medley of "My Yellow Ginger Lei" and "E Huli Huli Hoi Mai" that somehow captures the essence of slack key.

I learned this arrangement from the playing of Ledward Kaapana, who often mentions the influence Uncle Leonard had on his style. This performance is dedicated to the memory of Uncle Leonard Kwan, and to the remarkable Mr. Ledward Kaapana.

This clip is from the last Aloha Friday in Downtown Pleasant Hill for 2009.

The video is composed of three clips: a wide shot using a Creative Vado HD, a head shot from the Panasonic Lumix ZS3, and a close angle with the Sanyo Xacti HD2000.

The audio signal path was direct from the guitar pickup to a TC Electronics G Natural and into the audio input of the Xacti. The guitar is a Tony Yamamoto OMY, the pickup is a Pick Up The World Stealth undersaddle.

The video was edited in Adobe PE7.
