In 1968, Talat landed to a hero's welcome in Trinidad for the West Indies Concert Tour. Thousands of fans thronged the airport. Wearing Talat Fan Club badges, waving Talat Flags and Talat Photo's, they lined the roads leading from the airport to the city. An open limousine drove Talat through a sea of his fans. The local papers headlined the concerts at Naparima Bowl, where not even boxing matches had witnessed such a frenzy for the purchase of concert tickets. The extremely popular group 'West Indies Steel Band' composed a Calypso style song "Talat Mahmood we are proud and glad, to have a personality like you here in Trinidad" to welcome Talat to Trinidad. This song was played over and over on the radio, at the airport and in all music shops in West Indies to welcome Talat to their country! Talat's concerts at Skinner Park and Jean Pierre Complex are still talked of even today !
