The Emergency Department of the Intelligent Hospital™ Pavilion represents a high pace environment focused on diagnostics, triage, rapid assessment and transport of the patient to appropriate treatment area of the hospital. The ED requires quick response, optimized patient processing and broad spectrum of clinical information to readily available and documented.

To deal with the complex workflow of the ED environment, multiple diverse technologies need to be integrated, including clinical device data, RTLS and supply management, enabling the rapidly assessment and movement of the patients through the ED.

A vital these integrations and connectivity is the high performance wireless network; a seamless blend of multi-carrier cellular and Wi-Fi services. The ED incorporates advanced medical devices and sensors providing critical diagnostic parameters to be measured and reviewed. Establishing connectivity between these devices enables data to be time synchronized, archive and through the institution for consultant and delivery directly to the point of care for immediate intervention. RTLS solution provide the methodology to associate critical date directly with the patient as well as track workflows, supplies and other resources. Mobile device maximize staff-patient interaction directly at the point of care enabling data to be delivered directly mobile devices as well provide rapid staff to staff communications.

The design of ED and overall Intelligent Hospital TM requires close partnerships between end users, including physicians and nurses, healthcare administrators, and industry, to determine how existing technologies may best be combined and integrated into practice.
