While there are other options for extending USB 2.0, such as active extension cables, extending over long distances with cat5/6 adapters tends to be more economical as well as convenient. That is because cat5/6 cable is less expensive and can be easily run and terminated to a custom length.
However, we have seen many different comments out there about some of these not delivering what they promise, so we decided to test them to help you decide which one will work better for you.

NOTE: Make sure to check out the full article detailing the specs of the equipment used to make sure any of these solutions will work for your setup. Likewise, we strongly encourage you to give our technical support specialists a call if you have any questions about your setup.

We have also had a couple questions regarding the specs of the HD webcam we used.
Here are the specs for that webcam:

720p HD / 16x9 Widescreen Video
USB 2.0 plug-and-play connectivity
Built-in Microphone
5 cm to 8 focal Range
Up to 30 fps (at 640x480)
640x480 or 1200x1600 resolution
USB cable length: 4 feet
