Just three months after delivering Chelsea's first Champions League trophy, manager Roberto di Matteo would be forgiven for having a confident approach to Sunday's Premier League opener against Wigan.

Except he doesn't seem to be - the Chelsea boss admits he's approaching the game at the DW Stadium with a slight sense of trepidation.

Didier Drogba, Jose Bosingwa and Salomon Kalou have gone, replaced by 20-year-old Brazilian Oscar, Lille star Eden Hazard and Marko Marin from Werder Bremen. But while Chelsea should be a genuine threat this season, Di Matteo believes there's one club who remain above the rest.

"Personally I still believe that Manchester City are the favourites because they haven't lost any key players, they have showed their strength. But certainly [Robin] Van Persie is a good signing for Manchester United."

United begin their campaign against Everton on Monday, in a game that could be Van Persie's first with his new club. City meanwhile meet Southampton at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
