I was a little overly excited and less experienced when this incident occurred. It appears that a tornado lifted up into the air right over us - so the swirl of air passed over us with winds maybe gusting to 65mph.
Yeah yeah, I got freaked out and stopped filming. I wish I hadn't - and I may never forgive myself for not keeping the camera on.
The sound was unbelievable - Jim Leonard kept his camera on for a portion of the event and captured the tornadoes roar - which was just like the scream of a jet engine.
The sound may have been the last multiple vortice within the tornado before it died out. There was destruction - not fifty yards as I say in the video but probably 150 to 200 yards - south of the gas station, but no damage to the north of where we hid.
