As you might have heard, Gabe Newell gave an interview to Seven Day Cooldown in which he stated clearly that DOTA 2 will be free-to-play - it'll have some twists, but that's the easiest way for people to think about it.
Let the analysis begin! After all the speculating and discussing, even arguing at times, Gabe clears the waters; DOTA 2 will be F2P*! You probably noticed the * didn't you? Well, as far as we know it means is "with a twist"! In his interview Gabe also stated clearly that he dislikes the freemium model, so don't expect anything similar to the model of LoL, for example. Well, it awaits to be seen, but knowing Valve - and trusting it - I kinda feel it is going to be an interesting and innovating model!
So, ladies and gentlemen, where does this leave us? News-thirsty fans? Well, we more or less know everything about the game, except, probably the most important question of all, the official release date! No clear lead has been said or leaked from Valve but with the rate that the new heroes are added, I am afraid that it might take many months, if what Gabe once said is true: that he wants to release DOTA 2 only after all heroes have been ported.
