Porter Medical Center in Middlebury, VT announced recently that they will end the healthcare benefits for ALL part time employees--house-keeping staff, nurses, doctors, everyone. For some people this means they will pay over $1,000 per month more for their healthcare benefits. On Thursday November 5th, nurses and community members attempted to deliver over 1,000 petition signatures to the administration at Porter Medical Center. Community members were ignored and turned away from delivering petitions to Porter's CEO Lynn Boggs. According to Porter Hospital's 990 tax forms, their previous CEO made over $400k in 2014. But the hospital claims it can't afford to cover the health insurance of its own workers...who are providing healthcare and needed services.

Hospital and CEO profits shouldn't be put before the health of anyone. This is one more example of why we need to move away from a for-profit system and towards a universal healthcare system.

Call CEO Lynn Boggs' assistant at 802-388-4741 or 802-388-5607 OR email her at lboggs@portermedical.org. Let her know that Healthcare is a Human Right -- Restore healthcare for all Porter employees!
