Acting is doing. When you're listening you're really doing something. There is no such thing as nothing on stage or film. There is always something going on. In almost every scene you see on stage or film, there is either someone doing something or someone trying to go get something from someone.

Here we see Devin and Hannah play repetition until they get connected. Once connected and really listening to each other, they will be able to take each other personally and see how they really feel about the other person's behavior towards them. This is what we call working off of. Work of off what simply is in the imaginary circumstances is such a painfully simple lesson and one that could take months of demanding practice just to take root in you.

It takes the attention off of yourself, places it on the other person and now we can see what might develop organically in the imaginary circumstances. We call this living truthfully underneath the imaginary circumstance.

This approach gives you a way of functioning as an actor. Our philosophy is that "Art expresses the human experience."
