Morrison Bridge bike/ped path to be dedicated March 30
March 25, 2010

A dedication ceremony for the new Morrison Bridge bicycle and pedestrian path will take place Tuesday, March 30 at 12:30 p.m. at the paths west entrance (SW Naito Pkwy & SW Morrison St).

At the ceremony, after County Commissioners Jeff Cogen and Deborah Kafoury speak, the Last Regiment of Syncopated Drummers will lead attendees in a procession across the bridge to SE Water Ave.

The old Morrison Bridge bicycle and pedestrian path was built for temporary use while the Hawthorne Bridge was undergoing construction in 1998. The temporary path was popular but was not designed to be permanent. The new path will not only be wider (15 feet), but will also include safety features such as (on a portion of the bridge) a barrier between the path and the road.
