MicroCuber is probably the world's first robot to solve the Microbic puzzle.

Microbic is a tiny Rubik's Cube style puzzle, only 12mm across, designed by Evgeny Grigoriev See: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBny_N...

MicroCuber's mechanism is built entirely from LEGO bricks including a MINDSTORMS NXT kit with the addition of a Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini smartphone running a custom Android app. The app uses the smartphone's camera to capture images of each face of the cube which it then processes to determine the colors of the scrambled puzzle. After working out the solution, the app transmits the moves to the NXT controller via bluetooth to instruct it to solve the cube.

It was quite a challenge to design a mechanism from LEGO bricks that is capable of manipulating such a small cube.

I'm flattered that Kenneth Brandon (@redKB) has included this video in his "My 5 Favorite Cubing Videos of 2012" playlist: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gn72nD...
Many thanks Kenneth! :)

My great friend, Mike Dobson (Oscarworld, @RoboticSolutions), co-creator of the Guinness World Record holding "CubeStormer II", has kindly allowed me to use another of his wonderful musical creations, "SugarKube", as backing for this video.
Thanks Mike!
