"In Next of Kin I notice -- once again -- that I have taken up my favourite theme: community and its formation. This time, however, I have embarked on a stranger and more surrealistic journey than in my other works." Through "Next of Kin" Tero Saarinen explored those unconscious, animal modes of behaviour that well up from the depths of our minds, which direct our actions, and which we unwittingly project onto those near and dear to us. Do traumas influence the way that certain people gravitate towards each other?

"[Tero Saarinen] has the rare power to transport his audience into another world, to make us both fellow-travellers in his intoxicating, surreal journey and voyeurs of strange life in extraordinary visual landscapes."

"BRILLIANT. -- The premiere of Tero Saarinen's Next of Kin was a truly valuable and compelling performance."
-- Lietuvos rytas, Vita Mozuraite, May 12, 2008 (Lithuania)
