The brand new video for Sylvain the Librarian's single 'money well spnt'
Sylvain the Librarian is a thirtysomething songwriter and a librarian by trade. He lives and works and records songs in Marseille, France, by the Mediterranean sea. He used to be the frontman in ex-magnolia, an indie rock band based in Lyons, France, but that band split in 2008.
In the fall of 2006, Sylvain started recording music in his living room using his acoustic guitar, sampled beats, a melodica, a ukulele, and a vintage Casio keyboard. His music navigates between pop and folk, acoustic and electronic; his songs are usually jaunty and melancholy at the same time; they're also short and straight to the point!
Amateur, his first solo effort, was released online in april 2008. That album was recorded using nothing but a computer microphone. Shortly thereafter, Sylvain bought a proper mic and some recording gear and set out to record Staff Only No Vikings.
The first recordings from the new album were heard by Dymaxion Groove Records founder Tom Tolleson who contacted Sylvain and has just released Staff Only No Vikings as a complete, limited-edition LP.
