On January 24, 2012, National Wildlife Federation employees were treated to a visit by a great blue heron. He waded in the pond in front of our headquarters in Reston, VA, making friends with the ducks and catching a snack. The great blue heron is the largest heron in North America, and it can be found as far north as Canada and as far south as South America. They live in a range of habitats, but they are always found near a body of water. We hope to see more of our cool feathered friend in the future!
