I was a visiting student from Scotland at UT Law School when I filmed this in 1996, so everything seemed different and strange to me. I had never watched it until just last week. And 20 years on I got the same feeling - a very different and strange Austin. This was on Sunday June 9, 1996 at about 6pm. Brian and I were driving Marc’s car from our house on Elmwood through downtown Austin and over the bridge to Baby Acapulcos for my friend Stu’s last night. We drove down the Drag passing the Hole in the Wall, Tower Records, some drag rats, and Miami Subs. Then down Guadalupe passed the Dog and Duck, Liberty Lunch, an empty Austin skyline, and hardly any traffic.
