Once a riflestock has been refinished, its time to "finish the finish." Join Larry Potterfield, Founder and CEO of MidwayUSA, as he polishes out the finish on a Winchester Model 67 riflestock. This process gives complete control over the final look and shine of a gunstock, and is a standard part of the stockmaking process.

The finish isn't finished until you've finished finishing the finish.

If you drink everytime he says, "finish," you go to sleep quickly.

I was wondering what you would recommend I use to polish the old wood stock on my Yugoslavian M48? I don't want to sand and refinish it I just want to polish the stock and preserve it as best as possible. I would appreciate any advice you might have.

In the beginning it had a "high" gloss...in the end a smooth consistent "Satin" finish... the high gloss would have blinded you with a ray-o-sun shine...it would have been like carrying a mirror through the woods...

here is a trick for all of you who love that reddish color of say the sks but with the gloss of true oil how to tint it hmmm easy to do buy yourself a red ink cartidge for any printer yep ink put a few drops in with the oil you are going to use remember the more coats the more reddish it will be and just finish the true oil as normal i did my sks this way and it has just the right amount of red huge to it and much better then shellac but remember mix it very well at first it may not look like it is mixing but give it a chance it will mix and when done and polished it looks great

I gotta say, your polishing job made the finish more dull than it ever was

Can I send the stock to you for refinishing? If so, how much would you charge? My wife has an old Remington .22 semi-auto rifle and I'd like to surprise her with refurbishing it.
