Democrats continue to hold a sit-in protest on the floor of the US House of Representatives over gun control legislation which has been rebuked by Republican supporters. TV cameras have been switched off but speeches are being streamed live via Periscope.
Led by civil rights veteran John Lewis, Democrats continue to stage a sit down protest after Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan refused their calls for action on gun control.

The protest comes in the wake of the Orlando shooting where 50 people were killed and 53 injured in a shooting at the LGBT nightclub 'Pulse' on June 12. The shooting was the deadliest attack in the US since 9/11.
