VIDEO SUMMARY
In this video I review 4 of several themes in The Hunger Games. First, I talk about how power preserves itself and draw parallels to the Roman Gladiators and French beheadings. Second, I talk about the concept of hope being stronger than fear and compare the hunger games to the American dream. Third, I talk about capitalism, systemic violence, the unequal distribution of resources, and America's wealth gap. Lastly, I talk about solutions to end the real life hunger games with hints we can pull from the first movie.

I have not read the books yet so this is based purely on the movie. Other themes that were originally included but were cut were: exploitation as entertainment & our addiction to reality TV and the Iraq war/who violence benefits.
