I considered for a long time whether or not the world would be better off without religion. Indeed it would seem that had religion, had no higher power ever been conceived, this world would have been spared a lot of suffering. Reason by its very nature disallows the barbarism that a fanatic believer, convinced hes doing the will of god, would commit without a second thought or moments remorse. What benefit has religion been to humankind? The answer seemed clear enough . . .
But we created religion after all . . . If religion had never been thought up, would something else simply have taken it's place? Would similar horrors have just been committed under a different label, perhaps nationalism? Is religion the only way to so corrupt reason and logic? Does religion simply exist to control? I created this video to ask these very questions. What are your thoughts?
