On Board footage of the First round of the 2012 BRSCC National Formula Ford 1600 Championship at Oulton Park. The race was filled with incidents, which led to two safety cars.
I started from 4th on the grid, didn't make the best get away and dropped to 5th, as carnage broke out behind me. I was then caught napping at the Hairpin when John Murphy went around the outside of me, just before the first safety car was deployed. After a few laps behind the safety car the race resumed, only for another incident to occur at the hairpin. The two leaders, Martin Short and Jamie Jardine tangled, resulting in Jardine rolling. Neil Winn just avoided the incident, but lost a lot places in doing so. The net result moved me into 3rd and brought out a second safety car.
The race got started for a one lap sprint, which saw John Murphy take the lead, only to spin off with two corners to go, promoting me to 2nd and I had a run on the leader, Douglas Crosbie. I managed to take the lead on the last corner of the last lap, leading the most important lap and taking the win.
The final result of the top 6 was: 1 - #27 Luke Cooper (White/Blue Swift SC10) 2 - #6 Neil Winn (Black Van Diemen LA10) 3 - #21 Ryan Cullen (White Ray GRS08) 4 - #54 Douglas Crosbie (Blue Van Diemen RF00) 5 - #8 Daniel Headlam (Black Van Diemen JL012K) 6 - #48 Vincent Jay (White Ray GRK10)
