At Jolee's request, Jacen and his party members find the Czerka poaching camp. Jacen tries to persuade the Captain to leave, but he won't. So, pretending to be passing through, he engages in quiet conversation to the guards, making sure the Captain isn't listening. He finds out the guards don't want to stay there, so he persuades the guards to give him the codes to the sonic emitters they're guarding. They do, and after Jacen quietly disables them, the camp is ambushed by a beast like no other. He tells Jolee the news, and Jolee honors his end of the bargain, and takes them to the entrance of the Lower Shadowlands.
