As we begin the second week of our special "Open Mike" series, we feature a guest of extreme prominence and influence in the United States and around the world: the National Head of the Nation of Islam, Minister Louis Farrakhan. Some consider him a controversial outspoken black leader; others say he is a straight-shooting truth teller whom America needs. His work with the Million Man March in 2005 and his annual Saviour's Day event each February are well known. Less understood are his Bronx, New York, roots and upbringing in Roxbury Massachusetts; or that as a young man he trained as a classical violinist and received a track scholarship to Winston Salem College in North Carolina. There's much more complexity and depth to Farrakhan than what have been seen or heard in media sound bites over his 30 years of heading The Nation of Islam. We present an unedited and honest interview with the spiritual leader and fearless American critic.
