Recorded in January 1971 at ASH Records in Birmingham, England. This Glyn Jones song about an old street entertainer from Liverpool called Seth Davy, has become one of the most popular Liverpool Folk Songs. This recording was made by The Leesiders for their 'Travelling On' Album and is sung by Peter Douglas, one half of The Leesiders, the other half being Bob Buckle (who did the whistling!). Seth Davy was a children's entertainer who sang and danced 'Peg' or 'Jig Dolls' which was a favourite children's entertainment at the end of the 1800's and just into the beginning of the 1900's.
