With music, food, and an amazing show of hospitality, some 35 LGBT Mormons, along with allies, family, and friends, participated in an Affirmation leadership meeting held January 26 in Potomac, Maryland. With the theme "envisioning the future," we shared our dreams and hopes for the future of all LGBT Mormons no matter what their status in the church or belief system.

Tina Richerson, who co-leads the Outreach and Development Team, traveled by bus from New York City to attend the event. During the Saturday dinner, she shared the story of her recent return to the LDS church as an out lesbian and the warm welcome that her local bishop gave her.

Sam Noble flew from Indiana to participate. "I decided to get involved [with Affirmation] because this is a community where I can fully express my faith and the fact that I'm gay, and let both of those be a part of me, and not have to change who I am at all," he said.

"I feel supported by those around me and by the organization, and I can help other people to embrace the same things about themselves."

[Note: Please make plans to join us for the national Affirmation conference to be held in Salt on September 12-15, 2013.The video clip accidentally mentions the wrong date.]
