Part 2 of 5- The College of Charleston womens basketball team reached the championship game of the 2009 Southern Conference Tournament. In the quarterfinals, the Cougars defeated Davidson for the third time that season, 65-54. Junior Deidra Jones led CofC with 15 points, to go along with 17 rebounds. Junior Brooke Kotcella also scored 15, while sophomore Tonia Gerty had 13, and junior Jade Hughes chipped in 11 in the victory.

This highlight video begins in the semifinals, where Charleston upset top-seeded Chattanooga on their home floor. Hughes led in scoring for the Cougars with 13 points. Jones again notched a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds, and Senior Nikki Williams also had 10 points to go with a game-high 14 rebounds. Jones made the winning basket with just 3.1 seconds remaining on the clock.

In the championship game, CofC fell to Western Carolina in triple-overtime, 101-87. Gerty led Charleston with 20 points, Hughes had 19, and senior Sarah Moye added 18. Jones had her third double-double of the tourney with 14 points and 12 rebounds. She, along with Hughes and Gerty, was named to the All-tournament Team, the only team to place three players on that list. All three return next year for the Cougars. The future looks bright for The College of Charleston in the 2009-10 season!
