Interesting trivia:
* Both games were sellouts. Incredible ticket demand sent prices soaring in the black market. The cheapest general admission seats were selling over $100 by game time.
* Smart Gilas is the Philippines men's national basketball team.
* Smart Gilas player Marcus Douthit was a Los Angeles Lakers draft choice in 2004.
* Douthit became a naturalized Filipino citizen on March 11, 2011, allowing him to play for the national squad.
* Manny Pacquiao arrived late in the game to chants of "Manny! Manny! Manny!" during a timeout he was approached by and spoke briefly to Bryant. Pacquiao approached the NBA players and spoke briefly to Fisher before Paul playfully challenged Pacquiao to box on the court. Luckily for Paul, Pacquiao denied him his request.
* Ranidel de Ocampo DNP (did not play) due to a broken nose suffered in practice the previous week.
* Air21 player Dondon Hontiveros got Bryants jersey after the game, incredibly it was his driver who caught Kobe's shoe hurled into the audience.
* Following the game Fisher immediately flew back to the US to join talks on a new collective bargaining agreement with the NBA as president of the National Basketball Players Association. Accompanying Fisher on the flight was Bryant, Rose & Paul.
* Bryant rushed back to keep his promise to his wife and two daughters to be in the Los Angeles airport by Monday morning for a family vacation in Mexico.
* Andre Igoudala was initially considered for the Manila tour.
* Rose and Durant were late additions to the lineup and came to terms only after Bryant signed up.
* Durant took the spot of DeAndre Jordan on the roster. Jordan was unable to make the tour due to visa problems.
* NBA player agents Rob Pelinka (clients Kobe, Fisher, Harden, Williams) and Aaron Goodwin (Kevin Durant) were in town for the events. B.J. Armstrong (Rose) was in town the previous weekend.
* Paul joins Dwyane Wade and Carmelo Anthony on a four-city China which follows the Manila tour. They will go to Hong Kong and move to Chengdu, Hangzhou and Beijing thru August 3rd.
