This is a good panel discussion with leading Pakistani journalists on the potential collapse of Pakistan. It explores several key issues, including: (a) lack of public stake in the governance system; (b) absence of viable political opposition; (c) role of electronic media in increasing public awareness; (d) dramatic gap between the ruling elite and poor masses; (e) public culpability in voting known corrupt and failed politicians to power; and (f) collapse of state machinery and administrative institutions. The panelists also debate whether: (g) America can save Pakistan; (h) a creative, out-of-the box governance solution is needed to replace discredited army dictatorships and sham democracies; (i) authoritarianism is rooted in national psyche and culture; (j) public should be patient with democratic process to bear fruit; and (k) revolution is possible in Pakistan.

The panelists are: (1) Hasan Nisar, renowned analyst and columnist; (2) Arif Nizami, former edition of the Nation; and (3) Dr. Mubashir Hassan, journalist, activist, and former Finance Minister of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. The panel discussion was recorded for Pak TV Meray Mutabiq program in May 2010.
