Our Bourne Identity

For those who do not want the nightmare to be true
there are forbidden topics that make life too unbearable.
We call what we do not desire to be true...propaganda,
or use semantics to keep from leaving our comfort zone.

No talking about religion or politics or environmental

Absolutely no graphic talk about what animals go through
before ending up on the dinner plate, or saying that
vibrations of fear are being consumed.

No reminding that animals have feelings, that live lobsters
in supermarkets, with pinchers taped shut, live out their
lives barely able to move, waiting for the water to boil.

Let's not fill our minds with particulars about oil spills and
war. Unless we really look hard, we usually don't have to
worry much about that because mainstream news thinks
it's too unsightly to show images of thousands of coffins and
dead oil-drenched birds, turtles, dolphins and other sea life.
Best to keep difficult-to-watch images under-wraps, oftentimes
under the guise of 'national security.' Better to fill air(head) time
with details of who's having an affair, who over-dosed on drugs
and the like.

Those easily offended by reality keep a stockpile of rugs and
brooms just in case the conscience of the world shows up,
renegade poets and activists, to bring injustice and other
unsavory topics to the center of attention.

How did it come to be that those who want peace for all of
life are the ones looked upon as radical? How did left become
right, up become down, front become back and dark become
light with so few questioning?

How is it that arrogance has come to rule the world by saying
(and believing) that there is no right or wrong, that judgment
of any kind is unenlightened?

How is it that we have allowed our brains to be washed over
and over again without even once asking: "what is that smell"?

Why is change so slow on planet Earth? Why have we allowed
greed and the misuse of power to rule the world? Is it because
those who have chosen deceit, ignorance, apathy, indignation,
and contentment over truth have committed treason of the soul
by lack of sound judgment and action? How long will the illusion
of silent screams fall on deaf ears?

The screams of oppression are heard and felt by every soul
around the world. No matter how hard we try, we cannot hide
from the consequences of unwise choices and inaction, even
under the influence of our addictions which allows us to
surface-feel and not know deeply the pain we are inflicting upon
ourselves and future generations. Those who are silent about
injustice to any form of life are assassins of truth and freedom.

On the journey to becoming compassionate, spiritual beings,
we are Bourne attempting to remember who gave us our facts.
For those who have accepted this assignment, the mantra is:
"question, question, question and then question some more."

Hindsight and 'ignorance is bliss' will no longer work if we are
to reverse the direction in which we are heading. Humanity's
nightmares today are our children's reality tomorrow.

The time is now to remember that silence will not save us.
