Police seek answers after boy grabbed at Plano Walmart.
PLANO — A security video from a Plano Wal-Mart showing what looked like a kidnapping was a hoax, police said.

Those in the video — who were not publicly identified — contacted Plano police to say no one had been kidnapped. They staged the act for their entertainment, according to a Plano police spokeswoman.

The participants told police they did not intend to alarm the public or police. Charges are possible against those involved, police said.

Police released the video Sunday night after being contacted by the Wal-Mart Supercenter at Dallas Parkway and Park Boulevard.

It was shot about 4:45 p.m.

It shows a teenage boy wandering outside the stores entrance. A white minivan pulls up in the crosswalk. Its side door opens, and two people in masks jump out and drag one boy inside. The van drives off.

Detectives were skeptical, because no one reported a missing child. Nonetheless, they said, they released it on the off-chance that it was real.
