The Coldest Journey is going to be the first ever winter crossing of Antarctica. Sir Ranulph Fiennes will lead a team of six through extreme cold and darkness, with a series of science and education projects, whilst raising money for Seeing is Believing.
Loading the icebreaker SA Agulhas was finished just in time to catch the tide. We left West India Docks (kindly provided by Canary Wharf Group) and headed up the River Thames to Tower Bridge and HMS Belfast in the early evening of 3rd December 2012. The expedition will start officially on Thursday 6th December and the ship will head for Antarctica, via Cape Town.
