The people out in Standing Rock have a sacred relation to the land, a bond of respect.
Norse myth tells us that King Frothi on Zealand gave in to greed, arrogance and stupidity. He broke this bond of respect and mistreated the forces of nature on which his civilization rested.
The myth represents these forces as the giantesses or troll women Fenja and Menja who deep in a cave conjured all the wealth, happiness and social justice of Frothi’s land with a magic millstone. But when he forgot that his civilization rested on harmony with these forces, they turned on him with this ancient poem, a prophecy that tells what happens when you break this bond of respect between people and between humans and the world we live in.
Leaders of today are doing exactly like Frothi. They give themselves to greed arrogance and stupidity and ignore that our civilization stands on the brink of absolute environmental cataclysm. In stead they feed on racist bigoted bullshit, forcing people to take the streets manifesting that their lives matter, and they let economic inequality run beserk. They turn aggressively on those people out in Dakota who actually maintain this ancient and vital relation of respect between humans and the world we live in.
So, to those politicians - heed these ancient words of wisdom. Avoid the revenge from forces of nature infinitely bigger than us. Bend to the words of the giantesses Fenja and Menja, because if you don’t, then this is a prophecy.
Violence, injustice and economic breakdown is what you reap from breaking the bond of respect between people and between humans and the world we live in.
Respect the Dakota right to their land, and respect the world we live in.
