Helping Educate to Advance the Rights of the Deaf (HEARD) created the #DeafInPrison Campaign to raise awareness about abuse of and discrimination against deaf prisoners across the nation. The Campaign, which officially launches on June 27th, aims to start a national conversation about these concerns and to compel corrective and preventive action.
We are asking that you watch "Deaf In Prison," then share your reactions, your story, or any information you have on social media using #DeafInPrison. The link (bit.ly/DeafPrisoners) will be available for 48 hours beginning at 12:00 a.m. (EST), Friday, June 27.
If you are looking for other ways to support the Campaign, consider hosting a screening with your office/organization. Please contact HEARD at firstname.lastname@example.org, if you want us to list your location on the Campaign event page (bit.ly/DeafInPrisonEvent). Please provide address, day and time of screening, wheelchair accessibility information for the location, as well as any other necessary information.
