Presbyopia is a common condition that affects all senior citizens. It is projected to affect 1.8 billion people by 2050. Correction of presbyopia thus has extremely high impact to the general population and society. However current correcting devices such as monovision or multifocal glasses and contact lenses are inconvenient to use. Our goal is to develop accommodative contact lenses for presbyopic correction. The focal length of our contact lens can be automatically and continuously tuned for the patients to acquire clear vision at different distances. Electronics power source and energy storage are integrated within the contact lens for its operation.
