September 15th 2009 the 17 years old finnish talent, Mikael Granlund scores his first pro-hockey goal on his fifth SM-Liiga/FEL game. The goal ends up as a game winner on as IFK beat SaiPa 3-1 at home ice, Helsinki. Assisted by Teemu Ramstedt, #46. HIFK struggles post-season as usual, but the following spring Granlund gets drafted first round, 9th by Minnesota Wild. The following 2010-11 season Granlund took big role in the IFK team who claimed it first championchip since 1998. Later at IIHF World Championship 2011 Granlund deployed hes nowadays famous lacrosse goal against Russia in semifinals. Now in early 2013 NHL lockout is dropped, and Granlund will be joining Minnesota Wild, after a point-per-game AHL autumn.
