I love this movie, and this scene in particular, there are other great scenes like where they talk about "not saving anything for the swim back" or when "the wind caught it", but for me this captures the moral of the movie; the notion that the state, industry, or social mores can seek to impose its rules on society or even in our genetic make up, but people need not submit, that it is the humanity in all of us that recognizes in our fellow human beings their right to lead their own lives, that we are each, in whatever ineffably makes us who we are, important in our own right.
