Girls in grades 6 through 12 were invited to take part in Camp Fury, a day camp from June 26 to 30, 2017, hosted by Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast and Norfolk Fire-Rescue. During the camp, girls learned about firefighting and other public safety careers with real fire department gear and equipment. Activities included: an aerial climb, hose drills, forcible entry training, EMS scenarios and rappelling. The week will also include a trip to Naval Station Norfolk to tour the fire station on the base and a military helicopter and a visit to CHKD for a tour of the emergency room. Women from the United States Navy Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit and the Norfolk Police Department were guest speakers at the camp.
