I still get goose bumps all these years later when I listen to this FABULOUS rendition of My Gal Sal by Winegar's Pennsylvania Boys on Edison. It is nothing short of a jazz masterpiece, start to finish, in my opinion. The arrangement is wonderfully unique and the band plays flawlessly. I searched for many years before finding an example of this elusive electrically recorded Edison and was thrilled to find the nice example you are listening to here. I can vividly recall many years ago when I was speaking with a long time Edison record collector and I asked what his favorite Edison record was. He quickly responded with My Gal Sal and recommended that I get ahold of it. He had just one copy and he said he would never part with it no matter what he was offered. The title sounded pretty boring to me but I took his advice. When I finally located a copy years later I was totally captivated as I listened. He was absolutely right and I will always appreciate his steering me toward this record. Thanks so much for stopping in and I hope that you enjoy this record as much as I always have!
