FRESNO CITY COLLEGE AND TAFT COLLEGE SOCCER TEAMS PUNCH TICKETS TO MIAMI FOR THE U.S. FINALS IN THE INAUGURAL NEYMAR JR’S FIVE GLOBAL SIGNATURE TOURNAMENT

FRESNO, CA (April 16, 2016) – Some of the top soccer players from Fresno and beyond convened at Calwa Park on Saturday to test their skills at the first-ever Neymar Jr’s Five global tournament. In this signature event for male and female players 18-25 years of age, 32 teams competed in a unique five-a-side knockout tournament sponsored by Red Bull. Fresno kicked-off the first of nine U.S. Qualifiers across seven cities (Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago, Phoenix, San Diego, Fresno and Rochester, NY), capped off with the US finals in Miami on June 11.

Roughly 400 players and fans were treated to competitive action throughout the day, but when it was all said and done, collegiate soccer teams FC Rats and Taft College Broders played a competitive and physical championship game with Taft College Broders ultimately coming out on top. Taft College Broders will head to Miami as a top seed for the U.S. Finals.

The day started off with excitement and intrigue as competitors begun play in a five-on-five tournament unlike any they’ve participated in before. When the tournament kicked-off in the morning, all 32 registered teams had their sights set on Miami. By midday, the field had considerably shrunk as teams began to be eliminated, although not for a lack of effort. There was something for everyone in attendance, as an emcee and DJ worked the crowd, food trucks kept appetites in check and Innovation LA, a soccer freestlying duo, dazzled the crowd with their unique skillset.
