My photographer John Pellizzari and I were embedded with the Cochise County Border Militia during their 4th of July operation. It was rare access to a controversial group offering its services to local ranchers and property owners following the death of Douglas rancher Rob Krentz. We spent the weekend to learn more about them, how they patrol and what motivates them. The group says they are not a racist group and in 11 years have never fired a single shot.
