Here it is, nelena savages.
Selena gazed at the envelope. "Did you read it?"
Nick sighed and nodded.
"What does it say?" Selena asked.
He paused. "She's coming home."
"Nick, that's great!" Selena gasped. "Aren't you happy?"
"I'm...worried," Nick replied.
"Why?" Selena wondered.
"It's been years, Sel," Nick said. "Why is she coming back? What if I don't recognize her? What is she's not the sister I used to know?"
Selena smiled. "Nick, don't worry about any of that. She's coming back to see you. You'll most definitely recognize her. And she'll always be the sister you know, no matter what."
Nick cracked a small smile. "I feel like a wimp, whining about this."
Selena grinned. "You know you can trust me."
Nick didn't respond.
"You know you can trust me, right?" she asked.
Nick sighed. "Sure I can...when you're not bailing on me."
"What're you talking about?" Selena demanded.
"Nothing, Sel," Nick said. "Nevermind."
"No, Nick, seriously."
Nick shrugged. "You just seemed to be busy today. Too busy to go on our date."
Selena paused, eyes widening. "Oh, I am such a douche! I totally forgot." She shook her head. She seemed to be forgetting a lot of things lately. First her phone, then her trip with Miley, and now she'd forgotten her plans with Nick. "I have a lot on my mind. I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to ditch you."
Nick shrugged and met her gaze. "I've got worse things to worry about than a screwed date. I'm not mad or anything. Don't worry about it."
"I feel so bad," she admitted, grimacing.
Nick hesitated and then pulled her chin up, kissing her deeply.
Selena stiffened, but slowly kissed back.
Nick pulled her closer and Selena deepened it.
Nick pulled away with a sigh, resting his forehead on hers. "There. You've made it up to me."
Selena laughed, a little breathless. "Can we try again?"
Nick studied her. "Vanessa will be home on Saturday. My parents want to take her out to eat. Come with me."
Selena bit her lip and then smile. "I'd love to."
Nick smiled back. "Good." He pulled back and the turned to look at the lake. Selena leaned against him, tucking her head under his chin.
Nick wrapped an arm around her shoulders.
Selena walked into her house silently. Her father was already asleep and she didn't want to wake him up. She wasn't supposed to take the car and she was coming in way past curfew.
She creapt up the stairs and slipped into her room. She changed into her pajamas and climbed into bed.
She lay, staring at her ceiling, her mind in overdrive.
Her cell phone rang.
She glanced at the I.D and smiled slightly. "Hey, Nick."
"Hey," he said.
"Why does something have to be wrong?" Nick demanded.
"Well, you just saw me."
"Maybe I like the sound of your voice," he said innocently.
"Maybe you're lying to me," she said, smiling despite herself.
Nick chuckled. "Nah, I'm not. But that's not why I called."
"Why'd you call?" Selena wondered.
"I don't want to wait until Sunday to see you again," he said. He paused awkwardly."Damn, I feel likea terrible teen love movie but it's true."
Selena giggled. "Didn't know you could be so sweet."
"It's not sweet. It's mushy and nauseating as hell," Nick said on a sigh. "But that's the effect you have on me. Anyways, are you busy tomorrow?"
Selena thought about it. "Well, I promised Miley I'd go dress shopping with her. But I'm free after that."
"Great, I'll pick you up at five," Nick said.
"Where are we going?" Selena asked.
"I'm not telling you," Nick said. "I never got to surprise you so we're trying again."
Selena sighed, "Fine. But only because I was a jerk today."
"You forgot," Nick corrected. "You're humanly incapable of being a jerk. Don't worry about it."
Selena bit her lip.
"Why do I feel like you're worrying about it?" Nick asked.
Selena sighed heavily. "Because I am. I feel bad."
Nick chuckled. "Well, you can pay me back tomorrow."
"Pay you back how?" Selena teased.
Nick paused. "I think we can find away."
"All right, well I'll let you get some sleep."
"All right. Good night, Nick," she said quietly.
Nick took a moment to respond. "Night, Sel. Sleep tight." He hung up.
Selena gazed at the phone for a moment before turning on her stomach and tucking her face into her pillow, her mind filled with thoughts of Nick and Logan.
