VICTORIA - A group of animal advocates has been collecting signatures and support for stiffer sentences for people who hurt animals.
Brent Malcolm Conners pleaded guilty to killing an animal and causing unnecessary pain and suffering to an animal.
The animal in this case was a three-month-old pitbull puppy named Bandit. Evidence presented in court showed that the puppy suffered broken ribs, a broken jaw, a human bite mark, and ultimately died of internal bleeding.
Conners is expected to be sentenced on February 2nd. The 'Justice for Bandit' group will be petitioning until then.
