Not much needs to be said about this piece. You might be surprised about some of passage-work tonight. While I was practicing it live on webcam I got 100s of questions "Did you compose all those extra passages?" Heh, I wish... I was just as surprised when I bought a new Urtext edition just a couple of weeks ago, having lost mine. I opened the book and I thought I saw double. Yes, there were two versions of this Nocturne. One, the usual -- and another, later authentic version with many deliciously difficult passages. With this piece being so popular I understand that nobody wanted to bother. Those extras turn what would be a relaxing encore-type piece into a veritable cliff-hanger.
