Leaders from the nuclear industry gathered for the ribbon cutting at the Phoenix Regional Response Center, the first of two offsite emergency response centers capable of deploying equipment to nuclear plants around the country.
This is part of the Strategic Alliance for FLEX Emergency Response (SAFER) program established in the wake of the 2011 nuclear accident at Fukushima Daiichi. The U.S. nuclear industry is always working to make operations safer and to prepare for any accidents that may come its way.
