An Anglo-Saxon zoomorphic strap-end of Thomas Class A, Type 1 (see ref below). The attachment end is split to accommodate the strap, and has two rivet holes. The central section has engraved Trewhiddle-style animal decoration. The terminal is in the form of a stylised animal-head with rearward-facing ears. The reverse is plain.
