A high school production of the original musical: "The Shining: The Musical!" When Jack Torrance moves his family to the secluded Overlook Hotel for the winter, his mind begins to unravel and murder is afoot! You'll laugh, you'll scream, you'll get up and dance!

"The Shining: The Musical" was an entirely non-profit production, performed only for the entertainment of a grateful student body. It is not in any way affiliated with Stephen King or the late Stanley Kubrick, though it does rip off both of those of men tremendously.

Adapted for the stage and directed by Julian Nebreda and Josh Frydman, with original music and lyrics by Josh Frydman.

"Keep on Shinin' (On)"

Hey, I'm a writer and my name is Jack
I got some block and I think I'm a hack
I just need a way to clear my mind
All I need is a relaxing time
Just some time to think, and I'll be fine

Oh gee I'm Wendy and I love my man
He's just a guy I seem to understand
Yes, I give him every part of me
I love him unconditionally
Through thick and thin, through sane and crazy

(Jack and Wendy)
And we are gonna keep on shinin' on
Together forever, 'till death and beyond
But let's not forget about one little guy
The light of our lives, our joy and pride

Hey I'm Danny and I'm just a kid
No, nothing special don't get excited
I love my dad, yeah he's awful sweet
He says that I make his life complete
That I'm the best son who cannot be beat

So here we are the Torrances three
Mom, Dad, and little Danny
That's me!
We're a family with lots of heart
And nothing is ever gonna tear us apart
So if you wanna try, you shouldn't even start

And we are all gonna keep on shining on
All together, with an indefinable bond
We just have to remember to shine
Cause I am yours and you are
I am yours and you are

I am yours and you are mine
Woah-oh, woah-oh
Shine on!

"Welcome to the Overlook Hotel"

His name was Grady
He had the caretaking job
He came up with, his wife and kids
Here the story gets macabre

His work record was solid
His references were fine
But at some point he, went nuts, crazy
Yeah he totally lost his mind

Oh so then what happened next?
Did he get a little mad?
Listen man, I understand
I am also a dad

I'm afraid it was far worse than
Anything you've ever done
Believe you me, this guy Grady
He wasn't so much fun

For in this hotel where he came to relax
He ran amuck and killed his family with an axe
It's sad for me to say that he mentally broke down
Yes, in a room in the west wing his family was found
Stacked neatly on the ground

Experts speculate
Cabin fever was the cause
When people are close, for too long who knows
They can break all kinds of laws

And as if that wasn't quite enough
Himself he also killed
Yeah with a shotgun, he got the job done
Inside his mouth it filled

So, welcome, welcome to the overlook hotel
Some say it's heaven and others they agree
I think you'll like it here at the overlook hotel
Just make sure you don't kill your family
Ha ha, that's me being funny

There's a maze!
Yes, go get lost
But risk going in there
At your own cost
We got a bar
But no alcohol
(Jack and Wendy)
Oh, we don't drink
No, we don't drink at all

So we are welcome here at the Overlook Hotel
And I think our stay here is gonna be just swell
This your palace sir, you are the king
So what the heck you waiting for?
Yes, just, come on in

La la la....

This is the perfect place
For you and your kin
So what the heck you waiting for

(Danny and Wendy)
What the heck you waiting for?

I don't know what I'm waiting for

Just come on in
